Tinley Park redevelopment could affect local residents
City officials in Tinley Park are eyeing 100 acres for redevelopment. Plans call for a mix of single family homes and condominiums in the area.
Residents in Tinley Park could be in for a surprise if plans for a pond are approved by village officials. The pond would serve to avoid flooding in the new neighborhood, and could encroach on several properties in the area.
Village officials recently completed an engineering study that determined that the size of the pond should be increased from 20 acres to 35 acres to successfully prevent flooding in the neighborhood.
The city would also need to annex several homes that are currently in unincorporated sections of Cook County.
Tinley Park has seen a steady stream of activity in the real estate market for the past few years. According to the Chicago Association of Realtors, a total of 87 homes were sold in the neighborhood during the second quarter of this year.
Tinley Park has seen several quarters with more than 100 homes sold.
