Deals abound in North Center

If you’re looking for a great price on a one or two-bedroom condominium close to downtown Chicago, you may want to check out what’s available on the market in North Center. Prices in the neighborhood were off 4 percent during the first quarter, according to data from the MLS.

However, prices for one and two-bedroom condominiums were down even more during the first quarter. The average sales price for a one-bedroom unit fell by 17 percent from the same period last year, reaching just $220,317 during the first quarter. Two-bedroom units also sold for 17 percent less during the first quarter, with prices reaching just $307,974.

It was the larger units in the neighborhood that showed the most strength. The average sales price for condominiums with three or more bedrooms fell by just 2 percent from a year ago, but rose 3 percent from the previous quarter in North Center.

However, despite declining prices in the neighborhood, buyers weren’t taking advantage of the deals during the first quarter. Demand was flat for one-bedroom condos in North Center, while sales of two-bedroom units fell by 14 percent from a year ago.
