Beverly home sales off slightly
Sales of single-family homes in Beverly were down in 2007, along with many other neighborhoods around the city of Chicago.
However, the drop in sales was much less than in many parts of the city.
According to data from the Chicago Association of Realtors, a total of 140 homes were sold in the neighborhood in 2007, down from 150 units sold during the
previous year. It was the lowest total sales seen in Beverly since 2001.
The drop in demand led to a small increase in the average market time in the neighborhood. According to the C.A.R. report, it took homeowners and developers an
average of 95 days to find a buyer during the year, up from 82 days in 2006. However, this is still a strong result when compared to other Chicago neighborhoods.
The relatively strong results for the neighborhood helped keep prices in positive territory. The average sales price for homes in the area rose by 9 percent
during 2007, one of the strongest increases for any market in Chicago.
