Luxury Evanston condos at 525 Kedzie

Highland Park condo sales reach 8-year low

Highland Park has seen a sharp drop in demand for condominiums and lofts in recent months. The neighborhood went through the slowest market in 8 years during the first quarter.

A total of just 13 condominiums were sold during the first quarter, down from 19 units sold during the same period last year.

However, sales totals for the neighborhood don’t show the whole story. The average sales price jumped by an incredible 60 percent during the first quarter, showing that buyers were focusing almost entirely on the most expensive units in the area. For those looking to sell affordable condominiums in Highland Park, the market has slowed tremendously.

For all owners and developers, the market time has hit levels not seen in the last 20 years. If you’re thinking of selling your condominium in the area, it will now take you an average of 251 days to find a buyer, more than double the time it took just last year.

Buyers on the market for Affordable Chicago Real Estate could start to see some incredible deals in the short term.
