Condo sales hit two-year high in McHenry

McHenry was one of just a few neighborhoods in the Chicago suburbs to see an increase in demand for condominiums. The neighborhood had the second best showing during the first quarter in more than 17 years.

According to data from the Chicago Association of Realtors, a total of 32 condominiums were sold in the neighborhood during the first quarter, up from 28 units sold during the same period last year. It was the second year in a row with an increase in sales during the first quarter.

However, despite the increase in demand for condominiums in McHenry, the market continued to see more units for sale. It now takes an average of 120 days to find a buyer, up from 90 days a year ago.

Prices for condominiums in McHenry continued to rise during the first quarter. The average sales price rose 6 percent from the same period last year, and could continue to rise if demand continues to rise.

Buyers looking for great prices on Chicago Real Estate in the suburbs may not find the lowest prices in McHenry. However, if demand rises in the area, condo values could increase in the short term.

Sales continue at Astoria Tower

Sales of luxury condominiums continued during the first quarter at the Astoria Tower. This South Loop development is located at 8 East 9th Street, and is set for its grand opening this year.
